International Law
Hull McGuire's clients include (a) foreign companies doing business in
the United States, (b) U.S. companies doing business abroad, and (c) U.S.
and foreign companies doing business internationally in a mix of venues. We
are experienced in negotiating and structuring international business
transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures,
licensing agreements, distributorship and sales agency arrangements, and
cross-border secured-financing transactions. We ensure that the
agreements satisfy all applicable requirements of jurisdictions connected
to the transactions.
In international transactions, Hull McGuire advises on the
appropriate type of corporate entities required for their projects and
coordinates the formation of those companies in jurisdictions in the
United States and throughout the world. We also provide
day-to-day advice to our clients once foreign business operations have
been established. We have developed an effective global network
of 95 first-rate law or accounting firms of foreign counsel with whom we
consult in matters of local custom and law. We are active in
the International Bar Association and the International
Business Law Consortium, based in Salzburg, Austria and comprised of
corporate law and accounting firms in major cities throughout the world.
Finally, in concert with another well-respected Washington,
D.C. firm, we advise on all aspects of international trade regulation,
including economic sanctions, anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws,
and trade agreements and treaties. We handle customs matters
and obtain licenses for the export of goods, services and technology.
