Business Litigator Dorn Bishop Joins Hull
McGuire's San Diego Office as Of Counsel
SAN DIEGO, June 1, 2004 - Business litigator,
environmental lawyer and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Dorn G. Bishop has
joined the San Diego office of the Pittsburgh-based law firm Hull McGuire
PC as Of Counsel, effective June 1. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Dartmouth
College (B.A. 1986; History; with highest honors), Mr. Bishop received his
law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1989, where he was
an Associate Editor of the University of Chicago Law Review.
Between 1990
and 2001, Mr. Bishop was an associate and later a partner in the San Diego
office of Latham & Watkins in its Environmental Department, where he
focused on a broad range of land use, statutory and insurance litigation
matters. Between 1997 and 2001, Mr. Bishop also was the head of Latham
& Watkins' Insurance Practice Group, where he represented corporate
clients in administrative proceedings and commercial litigation.
Former
Federal Prosecutor
In 2001, Mr. Bishop became an Assistant United
States Attorney for the
Southern District of California, where he was undefeated in over twenty
jury trials. His work for the U.S. Government included the prosecution of
criminal cases involving fraud, drug smuggling, bank robbery, alien
smuggling, and illegal reentry of convicted felons. He argued several
appeals on behalf of the U.S. before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Ninth Circuit, and never had a conviction overturned.
Lawyer's
Lawyer
Mr. Bishop comes to Hull McGuire as Of Counsel after building
a successful law firm of his own focusing on business litigation, with a
particular emphasis on representing policyholders in insurance coverage
disputes, environmental law and white collar criminal defense. "Dorn
Bishop's well-known and proven abilities as a trial lawyer complement our
business litigation and environmental practices, each of which span the
U.S.," said Daniel Hull, a Hull McGuire Shareholder in San Diego.
"Dorn is both talented and extremely versatile -- a lawyer's lawyer
with lots of experience servicing high-end clients like ours."
Mr.
Bishop lives in Scripps Ranch, California with his wife and two children.
He also is a world class backgammon player, has won major bridge
tournaments in both the United States and Canada, and is an ardent student
